Opening doors to Australian traders would be one way to increase customer base (and liquidity on the exchange).

When I saw a lot of posters of ladbrooks.com.au advertised in the bathroom of my sports-club I thought, well if they're going to push the sportsbook here in Australia why hold back on the exchange?

I think we all have high expectations dont we?

On a positive note: Some time ago I posted on the forum that I had run an automated system on Betdaq that was a copy of a successful one that I had run for ages on Betfair.
I was blacklisted by Betdaq at the time as I was firing in too many bets..
Well last week, i ran it again and although it didn't match the results (profit) I got on betfair, it ran all day,no problems.
So they must have relaxed their approach, which can only be a positive
If anyone else runs stuff on auto, it may be worthwhile testing it on betdaq too??

When I first heard off the record it was Q1 2014, but looks to be much closer than that.

I have some automated stuff I am running there now. Again nothing special, yet.

TBH I don't think we can get ahead of ourselves on the Ladbrokes exchange, but at least it's a move to make the market more competitive. I'd imagine Lads will view it as succesfull even if it doesn't reach the proportions of Betfair.

I'm fascinated to see how the competition will affect BF's stance on PC

PC exists, not because of BF needing PC to remain viable, it exists because they had the market by the balls - not anymore!

just a small amount of liquidity will be a great help IMO. I only need to be able to nail 40% of what I can make on betfair and its more worth my while trading there. At least then its a viable alternative and if it grows anymore its a bonus.

It will be interesting to see what strategy Ladbrokes decide on with Betdaq. Such a big organisation will find it hard to integrate seamlessly with their current business.I suspect many meetings will have taken place at Rayners Lane and if they get 50% of their decisions correct they will be doing well.

Will they have a soft launch or go all guns blazing to take on Betfair? Will major rival William Hill sit back and allow their main rival to have a slice of the exchange cake and do nothing? Will William Hill take a stake in Betfair or could Betfair be sold to William Hll?

The recent announcement of feeding liquidity into the Betdaq exchange is a lowkey first shot across the boughs to see if and how Betfair react. It will be interesting to see how it plays out but i do suspect it will be good news for us.

We are ready when they are. Last conversation I had with them indicated they were adding new components to bring much promised new technology to it. Of course the issue now is we are deep into Betfair NG stuff.

TBH it feels on both fronts we are 'respending' development work without an guarantee of a return. I don't think end users will see much benefit as it stands on either, but lets see where we end up.

I noticed today Betdaq have put up a landing page and are promoting the Ladbrokes Exchange and that customers will soon benefit from a liquidity boost so hopefully it will be in the not too distant future.
