Forum upgrade - Choosing your forum style
yeah, those items being exposed at the top level just makes everything so much more ergonomic. i did actually have another suggestion which i mentioned in another thread on this topic:
this would just make everything supertight and remove any duplicationjimibt wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2017 2:53 pmcould i humbly request a small edit to the prosilver template which would both tackle duplication and save further space.
the link that says < Go to advanced search is superfluous as the little gear icon (highlighted in yellow) on the search box does the same thing. this would then reduce the header size by a further 30%. simply deleting the
...
element would sort this out.

strange... here's what i'm seeing on chrome v55.0.2883.87
as mentioned above, removing (vie inspect) the
...
element solves the issue without compromising the search bar functionality
[edit] - I think this anomaly will only be visible when you have navigated to New Posts or Active Topics
this is the actual html, which sits right below the
element:

btw, i added a late edit to this post that explains where the link anomaly can be found:
I've since gone thro the structure and determined that it affects any items that are referenced by the Quick Links menu also (potentially all point to the same template block [not sure how phpBB is structured])...... I think this anomaly will only be visible when you have navigated to New Posts or Active Topics
big thanks -noticed that minor gripe change of mine is in place now. really appreciate the dedication to the minor fixes when no doubt there are bigger fires to be put out elsewhere...
cheers
btw -one FINAL cheeky tweak that would make the actual forum POSTs page tighter would be to set the avatars all down to a standard 60*60 pixels along the lines:

I have to say this new forum with pro silver is so much better than the old. I don't understand why people are not so happy. Nice and simple from pc and superb with a mobile.
Good job.

I think it was the Milk v2 template that folks were perturbed by. I agree that the prosilver template actually is better than the previous legacy template and is superior by a mile to said Milk v2. can't thank the BA guys enough for shaking things down and addressing and implementing the various user suggestions that make this template (prosilver) a resounding success...
peter, being a fellow dev, I can appreciate that your team did an amazing turnaround when no doubt there were lower level tech issues that were needing to be addressed on equal/escalated priority.
