I need some guidance on setting up rules that allow me to back a nominated horse at BSP, with a view of laying at 50% in running but leaving all the profit on the nominated runner and a scratch on the rest.

ok, as you prolly know, you can select a nominated runner in Guardian so you've got that covered. in respect to the other queries:
1. back the runner with an offest bet (no greening)
2. set the offset to 50% (using % on the offset)
of course, this is no guarantee that you'll get off scot free should the runner decide to not perform. in this instance, you'll lose the entire stake, should the offset not get taken. likewise, you'll only collect on the runner if it wins, all ther runners will present a 0 win/lose position.
