Your description is a bit vague.

If you set a fixed odds condition you would nominate a selection. Current as selected on the General area, or nominated by selecting a runner. You probably want current but need to set it on the general area.

It is still not working for me
These are the full detail of all my settings:
General tab:
Rule Name: “Guard1”
Rule Type “Back all selections”
Rule Trigger Times: selected “Relative to in-play time”
Arm trigger at 00:00:01 after event goes in-play
Until 00:06:00 after event goes in-play
Allow rule to trigger up to “1” times Wait “2” seconds before rearming
Parameters Tab:
Place at “Fixed price”
Odds “4.8”
Stake “Fixed amount” £”2”
Global Setting: none
Conditions Tab:
Only one rule which is:
Condition Type “Fixed Odds condition
Selection “Current (NOT SET) is selected
The selection’s “Back price”
Is “less than” “5”
What I want it to do is when a horse race is in-play if the odds for any selection fall below 5 then to put in an offer to back it at 4.8. But it is backing all the selections at any price as soon as the race goes in-play!!!!
I can do this correctly easily on the non Guardian automation so thought it should be easy to do with Guardian, or am I just being thick?

Hi

I think you could do it like this. If I am wrong then apologies and I will learn something as well. Write the rule exactly as you have it but change "Back All Selections" to "Place Back Bet". Then Set the "Applies to selection" 1 in betfair Index Order. Once the rule is written you can copy it say 30 times and change the "Applies to selection" to 2, 3 etc etc. This can all be within the same Automation.

More experianced users may shoot me down but I think that would do it.

Best wishes

I'm brain dead after a busy day, but that's roughly right. Though you wouldn't need to copy each rule because you could apply it by order of favourtism and that would only back the shortest price at the point it fires.

If you use 'back all', Bet Angel will do just that and back everything when that condition is met, so you don't want to use the back all command.

Thanks for that, I will give it a go.
I am a bit disappointed that it doesn’t just work like it does in the non Guardian auto system, I thought Guardian was supposed to be more advanced!! I will add it to the “suggestions” section.

If you want to replicate that, they you copy the rule and applying to each selection as suggested above. The idea of the Guardian automation is to make it as flexible as possible so you can create pretty much whatever criteria you want.

The average field size is ten runners so if you create a main rule then copy that rule to cover 20 runners you will catch the vast majority of races.

From your comments I am assuming: not to do it by Applies to selection “in position 1 (sorted in order of favouritism)” because if the horse goes to favourite with odds less than 5 then drifts out then comes back in again the same horse could get backed/ triggered many times.
So I am assuming the best way to do it is by Applies to selection “in row (betfair order)” and copy this rule for say 20 betfair order positions.
As I only want it to trigger/back any horse once can you please confirm what I select in the bottom of the General tab Allow rule to trigger up to X times.
I am assuming I put a “1” in this
What I don’t understand is the Wait X seconds before rearming
If I only want it to trigger 1 time I don’t want it to rearm do I? but there is no option to say you don’t want it to rearm? so what do I enter here?

It's tough to walk somebody through an automation set up as there are so many pitfalls you can encounter on the way and so many variations. It's impossible for us to support at this level really. The best way to achieve any automation it is to start with a really simple rule on one runner then build out from there.

What you are trying to do is error trap. You could set up this rule but what happens for examlpe if the market freaks out somehow, you need to introduce additional checks perhaps such as if there is an unmatched bet in the sytem. This is why it is good to start simple and expand the rule from there. Once it is working as expected then you can go for a full implementation.
So I am assuming the best way to do it is by Applies to selection “in row (betfair order)” and copy this rule for say 20 betfair order positions.

I think you want to apply to row (betfair order). Select to trigger only once. Most trading strategies involve firing more than once so that's why we allow you to re-arm.

Build a really basic implementation of this on one runner, test it and if it works the way you expect then refine it before copying the rule to another runner and testing again. When you are happy it is working as expected and you have trapped any errors then you can put it on all the other runners.

Thanks for your prompt reply,I will do a couple of practice mode runs first with a couple of runners.
