Sorry next question any good application to use to view free or pre-paid Betfair data in a nice easy to read format.

I need a BI tool so I can analyse the horse racing data.

I do not mind paying.

Thanks,

Mark

The problem I have is I know the horses I want to trade in -in-play but trying to get the bet offset/green to use to ensure maximum profit.

I want this automated.

I normally trade 5-10 races per day.

If I have a horse pre-off at 10.0 this trades low in running so I do not want to trade out early.

Thanks,

Mark

HI,

I downloaded the Betfair Historic data for March 2018 ( Basic Plan ) for horse racing and there are so many files to look at.

There must be a easy way to view this.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Mark

No easy ways with Betfair data :) You'll have to stick it into a database program like access or mysql to get the best out of it or use excel if you're more clued up with that. The problem is that betfair licence the data so no one can provide it for free with a simple interface as they'd have Betfair on their backs

Maybe you could try this Betfair Price Files Download Manager

I used it a while ago to get all the data in one file.

You could try and see if the Proform database (I don't use it or have any links to it, but am just aware of some of its capabilities for in-running players) will give you the necessary information. It contains all the Timeform in-running data, high and low prices etc, and I think if you're a platinum member (pricey at about £100/month) you can download the whole database which may enable you to develop lay-the-field strategies. It may be worth contacting them to see if it can do what you want.

I guess the problem with the Betfair historic data files is that they don't include pertinent data such as ground conditions, distance, race type etc which you really need to filter results since blanket approaches will send you to the poorhouse.

A couple of other items worth a gander wrt in-running stats are:

1. An old thread from the Betfair forum (worth checking out the posts of BabyJesus and baconandeggs):

2. The latter comments in a blog article by Scott Ferguson on the subject.

Additionally for those 21 flat courses considered from 08 to14, it's worth looking at the year on year effect of such a strategy:
