Why don't they start loading the other runners while the horse is being re-shod. They do it in Oz and they have them all in just about so when they finish the re-shoeing they only have a couple left to load. Works really well and helps reduce the delay.

No disrespect to our own highly-skilled blacksmiths, but I'm pretty sure the Aussie's do it faster - they must have nail guns.
