Yeah you'd think a club that averages about 12th in the table of the highest paid league in the world, would attract some higher calibre candidates.

I was hoping O'Neill would take it to get him out of the Ireland picture. Whatever talk about him not taking it because of a verbal agreement with the FAI, I think if Stoke were 10 points better off and far from a relegation battle, he'd have jumped at it to get back to weekly football.

Even Tim Sherwood didn't big himself up for this one - we saw the same at Everton where big(ger) managers were approached and none of them wanted to know so the club makes do with a third rate manager who they will get rid of either if the club is saved from relegation or gets the drop
