Aiming to make this the most niche/quietest section of the forum, so unless you got nothing to say twang it (in-joke!!).
Anyway, as the title says, any old stuff related to said geetar nonesense is totally appropriate.
To kick things off, I'm lazily linking to an exchange from earlier today: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4433&start=490
ALSO, if you're not a fan of Rick Beato or Tim Pierce, then you should be. In fact here's the perfect storm as they take us thro one of my fave (of all time) geetar solos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuptg_THbpk
I learnt this MANY years ago but on watching this, realised that I was making it TOO complicated (and not actually appreciating the simplicity of chordal solos vs blindly learning notes -yup, that was me) - maybe a lesson as such when thinking of simplicity in trading !!
So - Oh, (SB, I started out as a punk style geetar player [after it was vogue] and then circled back to 70's style kossoff stuff and then literally down the rabbit hole to Becker and Fagan!! - go figure) nothing is ever dead - hence my love of 57 PAFS (see what i did!).
Anyway, let's see what we can add to this before it naturally dies in a few days

Have you seen the vids about Rick Beato training his son's ear? (not the start of a joke) He started pre-birth and then skipped the nursery rhymes and went straight to playing him improvised jazz. He's now got perfect pitch, not just tones but chords too, and picking up languages easily. These little tykes can do so more than watch Cbeebies.
I'm not in your league Jimi, you neither SB. I took it seriously until about 20yrs ago but when my playing buddy died (cancer, 6 weeks and gone) I didn't bother much afterwards. Not much fun playing on your own. Since then all I do is put some tunes on sometimes and just noodle around for an hour or two.

I've been a bit more motivated again though after really getting into a Spanish artist called Rosalia's first album, Los Angeles, and especially a track called 'De Plata'. https://youtu.be/NfDEEyg3AdA. Long one chord drones are right up my calle (and my ability), I could see this girl working with Robert Plant too, outstanding vocal control, and gorgeous of course.
The reason I mention it is that it's taken me on a bit of a journey through the tree of traditional Spanish music, and found that there's a branch of it called Fandango Alosno, which I suspect was tough on a young Fernando Alonso.

Beautiful. Things like this make it very hard to be impressed by popular music guitarists.

It's like any elite performer really, opportunity, passion and the right physical equipment. When you see those guys with what looks like 4 index fingers and a nice pad on the end of each one you know what you're in for. And they must have asbestos sinues.
The range of technique and control is just stunning. In 15mins I think I heard one maybe slightly off note.
