I just use an ordinary saucepan with oil and a scoop to remove the chips onto some kitchen towel.

I found a really useful countdown timer on the web. Just put the date and time of a big event in the URL, make it your start page and each morning when you open your browser you'll know how long to go before a big event.

Indeed. There is a treasure trove of brilliant films from way back.
What tickles me is when they try to remake them. I've yet to see one that surpassed the original. Most just look like they've run out of ideas and think "OK let's remake XYZ".
Bogart was born 1899. Casablanca. To Have and Have Not.
The other thing is they were black and white. But you don't mind because the lighting and cinematography is so good.
James Stewart b. 1908. Now there's a list of great films. Vertigo, The Man Who Knew Too Much, High Noon, Rear Window, The Philadelphia Story, Harvey and of course It's a Wonderful Life.

I just read that King Charles & Queen Camilla have just given a Royal Warrant for their favourite liquor and convenience store Fortnum & Mason.
I wonder if Camilla will get her rolling tobacco any cheaper now ...

"Man on wire" is the derring-do that boggles my mind. No parachute, no safety net. Lunacy or genius?
They must fly in with some speed to be able to climb the required 80 metres for the parachute drop.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 4:37 pmAmazing. Not much room for error at that speed.jimibt wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 9:02 amjeez - this is certainly a different day at the office:
