When Ladbrokes was introduced as a takeover of Betdaq, promises were made that liquidity would improve for US racing and potential expansion was to be made. The situation is all but the opposite at Betdaq at the moment particularly for US racing. I was analyzing the site the for a few days trying to see if it could be a reliable alternative to Betfair for US racing. Primarily because the commission rates (Premium charges) at Betfair are close to being implemented at to high of a rate. I had to windows opened to compare Betfair and Betdaq. Here is what i noticed...

1. Betdaq(Ladbrokes) liquidity is very low, i mean if Betfair has 10,000 matched betdaq will have 500 matched.
2. Its no wonder, the odds on Betdaq are almost always much lower than Betfair. I mean number 6 horse for example is (5.5) on (BF) and (3.6) on (BD).
3. Races are closed at times well before post time on Betdaq, its almost like they have no feed and are scared they cannot suspend the race on time, this is not good for those of us trying to buy and sell to get out of situations.
4. When betfair does something betdaq seems to respond accordingly. If betfair jumped into fire, betdaq would surely follow.

Quite frankly Betdaq(Ladbrokes) is no more than a undependable site at the moment for with no criterion for improvement. Its unfortunate because they have so much potential to finally be an decent alternative to Betfair. For example there are some great tracks in California or other top end tracks Betfair cannot cover.. but Betdaq can, but dont work to add these other tracks. I guess its no wonder if they cannot even produce liquidity in tracks they offer.

My advice stay away from Betdaq(Ladbrokes) if you are a bettor as its not an option at the moment. Send them feedback on this matter if you are like me looking for the only alternative to Betfair hunky charges. Maybe finally they will do something for the bettors and live up to there promises.

I'd guess the liquidity in the US racing markets just doesn't make it viable for either Betdaq or Betfair to put them up. Plus I'm guessing Ladbrokes have realised the threat of exchanges to their core business isn't as much a threat as it was made out to be, especially with even Betfair looking to build the sportsbook more than the exchange these days.

US races times are completely random, nothing to do with LadDaq. Same problem on Betfair.

So closing the race 1 minute before is an option when people are tied up in a situation. How can someone ever bet serious money like that.

That's why liquidity on the US racing has never really taken off.
