It should be a good one with Rafa not a gimme for the first time in forever and forever.
Haven't been following tennis for very long so I was quite astonished to see he's won it 11 times!Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 9:05 pmIt should be a good one with Rafa not a gimme for the first time in forever and forever.

He's just such monster on clay that it is, or at least was, simply not fair.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 9:37 pmHaven't been following tennis for very long so I was quite astonished to see he's won it 11 times!Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 9:05 pmIt should be a good one with Rafa not a gimme for the first time in forever and forever.
Heard an insane stat while watching the Monte Carlo Masters about him not even losing a set in that tournament for years on end, so I did a quick check, while Betfair sort out the s****
Outside of the French, there's three ATP 1000 tournaments on clay:
Rome - 9 titles
Madrid - 5 titles
Monte Carlo - 11 titles
5 of those in Monte Carlo without giving up a set. Probably of few of the others as well. Crazy stuff.
Not sure we'll see anyone dominate the clay like he has last 15 years or so, in the final when you look at the time spent on court time it's often a fraction of his opponentsKafkaesque wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 10:09 pmHe's just such monster on clay that it is, or at least was, simply not fair.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 9:37 pmHaven't been following tennis for very long so I was quite astonished to see he's won it 11 times!Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 9:05 pmIt should be a good one with Rafa not a gimme for the first time in forever and forever.

In Nadal's prime Federer has even skipped the French Open some years knowing he had little chance of success esp if not 110% fit in favour of being better prepared for Wimbledon
