Tour de France 2022
Remarkable recovery by Vingegaard. Rode away from team-mates that had dropped back to help him back to the peloton.
Interesting though that the etiquette of the peloton was observed. Pogocar could have scarpered, but there was no acceleration.

I used to love seeing them round Dutch corner, that wall of orange was amazing to see, but it since other countries have tried to jump on the band wagon and claim a corner it doesn't have quite the same impact as 10-15yrs agogreenmark wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 3:20 pmBecuase its from a lower altitude and they've already been put through the mangle earlier in the stage. And finally, it's the finish. So it's a proper race, incessantly uphill, between GC rivals (unless someone is already dominant). No team mate can help you. If they attack an opponent, they'll be atacking you too. The speeds don't create drafting opportunities.
It's a gladitorial contest at the limit of what a human can do.
It only takes one careless or over-excited fan to wreak a stage. Surprisingly rare, but it has happened.

I turned on Eurosport to watch but switched to Eurosport 2 by mistake.. I haven't switched back yet
That would have been the World Cup climbing.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:23 pmI turned on Eurosport to watch but switched to Eurosport 2 by mistake.. I haven't switched back yet
Watched some of it. Pretty astounding Doesnt it go from vertical to overhang? Just totally nuts. But they're all safe. Someone falling off a wall is not good tv.

Yeah an overhang at the top. I only caught the last 10 minutes of it but nobody made it that far.greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 5:32 pmThat would have been the World Cup climbing.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:23 pmI turned on Eurosport to watch but switched to Eurosport 2 by mistake.. If I could live my life over again, I would definitely be a climber. It's amazing what those people can do, even with just a few centimetres of a grip.
Agreed. The free climbers that do similar without safety gear just blow my mind.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:10 pmYeah an overhang at the top.
