is there anybody out there??
Difficult to generate much excitement with some of these markets really. In the winter I tend to skip the early part of the week and turn up to do my best job later in the week.

How did you do today?

Markets were thin and unpredictable

Y, I was treading carefully around the edge of the markets. Never really got going and couldn't really go at any particular market with gusto. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

My records show that this is a bit of a "dead period" in the run-up to Christmas, apart from the obvious highlights.

Have to say that jumps racing seems to get weaker every year.

This month has been really dead, although I don’t keep the sort of records you most likely do. This year at times feels like when I was first learning on my first winter.

Finding it extremely tough this month.

Lots of newbies drop out during these periods, but if you can cut your teeth or maintain your composure during the, literally, darker months then it's a piece of piss come the summer.

Today is looking much better, but very small field sizes overall. Not ideal IMHO.

The only UK meeting today without a 10 min lead up is the Ascot - the biggest meeting of the day gets Lingfield positioned 5 mins before it

Crazy planning imo but I have given up posting such things on the forum now tbh after being told I was over reacting and I should just enjoy the sport.

I'm always very vocal about the timings. I'll never understand why the BHB don't plan it better to bring more focus to the big races.

Wish you would have been vocal on this one (slightly different as different jurisdictions) from a few weeks back as I seemed to be the only one who thought it was poorly planned:

Just 5 minutes between FH and Exeter's Grade 2 - what idiot does the scheduling in the UK, and yes I know they are different jurisdiction but surely common sense tells you to have 10 minutes at a minimum. Almost every other gap between FH and Exeter has been/is 10 mins but not the feature race of the whole day!
