I've been trading Warrnambool from 4:00 to 7:30, I wasn't even aware of any scheduled maintenance.

hmm. this was announced on twitteer...

So when they plan an maintenance, they don't do it, and they don't plan it, they crash the site right before the start of a race?

Ouch! ..... :(
It is worth noting that some in-play punters work off the radio, rather than the vision, when trading on a race, due to a 2-3 second lag in the television coverage.
What radio it's faster for trading on aussie races?

Traded £150 on the second at Rosehill and made an 11 pence profit, thanks to the drift on Impavido. Just as well I don't pay the turnover charge!

That's more like the Rosehill I know and love - where traders chuck their money around as if they want to get rid of it. :D

Whatever idiot laid this at 240 was quite lucky there was barely any money up there. I wish Betfair graphs would ignore bets of less than £2 so we can see where money has really traded.

45-minute gap until the next race. No wonder the Aussies are always off on time. It's also when I should have eaten my dinner!

Just inverse the graph.

Just inverse the graph.
Inversing the graph leaves it just as distorted but in the opposite direction.

Agreed and at Moonee Valley. I find it really spoils the markets.

Really looking forward to see Avilius in the next at Rosehill. Thought the horse was so impressive last time out. 1.9 I think could look a very big price in 30 minutes!

Will be winning Group 1's very soon. Again very impressive and 1.9 was huge given the performance.

On average races probably jump 50 seconds late here in Aus which is fairly pathetic. There's obvious outliers (including waiting for another race) which are beyond the control of barrier staff, but how hard is it to run races on time? I wonder if they jump so late for betting reasons as it give punters a couple of minutes to see horses and rush to get their bets on?
One of the main reasons they are so late in the UK is that the vast majority of the courses don't make any effort to get horses to the start well in advance. Then on the flat courses the stall handlers make little effort to start loading before the start time. So many courses see the race time as they time to start loading rather than for the race to actually start.

The UK is not run professionally at the majority of tracks and the staff should be ashamed, particularly at courses like Newmarket and Sandown.

It is going to be a lot bigger issue that comes to light next year when RUK has more courses as at the moment a lot of the clashes are split across the TV channels so go unnoticed by the presenters.
