Looks like we could be in for a prolonged cold snap, so here is a thread to keep people up to date on the impact on racing.
The Met Office forecast for the 30 days up to December 21 warns "the cold or very cold conditions are likely to continue" and "temperatures are likely to continue to be below or well below average, with widespread overnight frost, locally severe."

OFF TIMES at Newbury have been shifted forwards on Friday to allow the racecourse staff extra time to cover the track before Saturday's Hennessy card. The first race will now be at 12.30pm (moved from 1pm) with the last at 3.15pm (originally 3.50pm).

UTTOXETER'S meeting for this afternoon will take place as scheduled after the course passed its inspection scheduled for 8.30am.
Musselburgh - 26/11/10
MUSSELBURGH will inspect at 7am on the morning of its Friday meeting, though officials are confident that racing will take place if the forecast iscorrect.
Newcastle - 27/11/10
HEAVY snow overnight has left Newcastle's Fighting Fifth meeting on Saturday in serious jeopardy with an inspection scheduled for 8am on Friday.

NEWCASTLE confirms Saturday's card, which was to have featured the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth, has been abandoned.
The course was hit with five inches of snow on Wednesday night and a bleak outlook was forecast.

Looks shocking as Towcester say they are very unlikely to race so will be left with:
Newbury 12.25 - 3.40
Kempton 2.10 - 5.20
Wolvs 5.50 - 9.20
So only a short period mid-afternoon where we actually have 2 meetings on at the same time
