Sandown Jumps Finale & My Stage Finale

As the jump season comes to an end, Sandown’s Jumps Finale marks the transition into the flat season, but it also reminds me of a very personal story.

Here’s why this meeting is so special and what it means to me.

The Sandown Jumps Finale: A Key Moment in the Racing Calendar

This weekend is significant for all racing enthusiasts. The Sandown Jumps Finale brings the curtain down on the jump season, and as the last big race before summer, it’s always a key point in the year.

Not only do we see some brilliant racing, but it’s also a signal that the flat season is right around the corner.

The Jumps Finale gives us some really good trading markets and it’s really worth putting in the effort on the to pick of some good opportunties.

In a matter of weeks, we’ll be gearing up for the Guineas, the Chester May meeting, and of course, the Oaks and the Derby. Things are about to get hectic.

Trading on Saturdays: A Lesson Learned

I’ve always focused my trading around the big Saturdays. These are the days with the highest turnover, biggest prize money, and best liquidity, making them ripe for trading opportunities.

It wasn’t always like that, though. When I first started, I made the mistake of thinking that I could trade Monday to Friday and still be successful.

I quickly realised I was missing out on the real action. It took time to figure out that the best returns come from these bigger Saturdays, like the Sandown Jumps Finale.

Skipping Sandown for a Family Event

So, here’s the personal bit. A few years ago, I made the decision to skip the Sandown Jumps Finale in favour of a family event.

It wasn’t a wedding or a funeral—just a fun day with the family. At the time, I had a very young family, and as many of you with kids know, you have to make sacrifices. I didn’t plan it that way, but family comes first.

From Trading to Dancing: My Stage Finale

You see, around that time, my two girls had become interested in dance. They joined a local group and were performing in shows.

I was a little out of my depth in the dance world, but I wanted to support them. One year, I took it a step further and joined them on stage, dancing and singing in their Mary Poppins show.

After months of rehearsal, we received the nod and appeared for a bit of ‘Dad Dancing’. Promptly followed by me throwing my hat in the air at the end of the performance to the round of applause.

It was a blast!

A Day of Fun and Markets

The funny thing was, while I was off dancing and singing on stage, the markets were trading well. The team kept me updated, and I was pleased to hear they had a good day. That day holds a special place in my heart because it balanced both family and work in a way that worked for me.

Despite missing out on a good days trading, I’d created some lifelong memories.

Sandown Jumps Finale – Big Opportunities Await

Despite the personal memories, I’m always aware of the big opportunities that come with events like the Sandown Jumps Finale.

If you’re not dancing and singing (or at least not on stage like I did), I strongly recommend you tune in.

It’s a fantastic day of racing, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the market. So, whether you’re at the track, watching from home, or trading in the markets, don’t miss out on this important event.
