Bookmaking & Dutching with Bet Angel Professional

CONCEPT

Bookmaking and dutching allows you to take positions on not just one selection but part or the whole of the field. When you are bookmaking you are always laying, when you are dutching you are always backing. This is regardless of the prices on the screen and whether you take them from the back or lay side or make up your own prices. Whatever prices you make you are either only backing, when on the dutching screen, or laying, when on the bookmaking screen.

USAGE

When you dutch an entire book below 100% you are effectively buying 100% for less than 100% and you will make money. When bookmaking an entire book above 100% you are effectively offering a 100% reward to the market for more than a 100% to yourself and you will make money.

In summary, in order to make money dutch below 100% and make a book above 100%. Bet Angel grey's out the place bets button if your book is above 100% when dutching and below 100% when bookmaking. You can not make money and Bet Angel will not allow you to place bets.

When using functions other than the bookmaking and dutching Bet Angel will highlight the book % figure if it slips into a profitable position to dutch or back the entire field.

Important - Unsuitable markets

The dutching and bookmaking features within Bet Angel are designed for use with single win markets only. They are not suitable for horse racing place markets for example. The profit calculations are impossible to resolve accurately within the software due to the complex nature of having the sum of the profit multiple winners which then need to be taken into account for all those included in the book. We have provided a facility to specify the number of winners but this only affects the indication of the over-round and does not affect the calculations at this time. This thus makes the tool not suitable for place markets.

In addition, markets where there is a possibility of a additions or removals before the event is completed are not suitable.

These include but are not limited to:

  • First Goal scorer
  • Total goals
  • Total corners
  • Ante-post markets
  • 'Big Brother Winner style markets'
  • 'Next Leader of a political party'

Dutching: -

With dutching you can back a number of outcomes with the intention of excluding less certain outcomes for a profit. For example you can dutch the front four in a horse race so that you guarantee a profit if any of the first four win the race. On a soccer match you could dutch all the correct scores excluding very unlikely scores to guarantee a profit.

Bookmaking: -

With bookmaking you can create books for other users to take up. In order to make profit you should price the book above 100% either by taking odds available or making your own using the various functions available.

Automatic dutching and bookmaking: -

With the autobet function, which you can use on both the bookmaking and dutching screens, you can specify a profit target and Bet Angel will fire a Bet into the market as soon as it sees your target profit.

AWARENESS

Unmatched orders

Predicted profit and actual profit are two entirely different things. When you see Bet Angel indicate predicted profit figures these are the profits you will make if all your bets are matched. If any of your bets are unmatched though, you will need to decide what to do with your bets.

With unmatched bets you need to decide whether you wait for the bets to be matched or close your specific position for a potential loss on that position, or whether you let it run inplay. What you decided to do, is up to you and specific to your strategy. It is important to remember that in outright markets you can only lose money if your loss is on the winning selection, you can lose money on other selections and still not have to face those losses. What you do with unmatched bets, which will be generated if you place orders 'out of the money', should form part of your core strategy if you expect to participate in the market in this fashion.

Rules 4's / Reduction factors / Withdrawn horses

Addition or removal of runners from a market will significantly affect the potential profitability of a back all or lay all strategy using functions such as Dutching or bookmaking. You should take extra take when using these tools to take into account the potential impact of any additions or removals of selections from a market.
